Tomorrow is the series finale of Lost. I can’t say that I’ve been with this show from the beginning. I think it had been on for two seasons before we got into it, and we of course got the DVD set and watched all the episodes back to back, no commercials, no week to week wait. We did the same thing with seasons 3-5, and most of those were watched within the same summer.
So Season 6 is the only season we’ve ever watched week to week. The reason for this is because I do not want the ending ruined the next day due to spoilers plastered all over the internet. (Had I missed a certain episode of House last season, I would have been ticked because you couldn’t look at any news website without the events from the previous night’s episode splashed across the headlines.)
So we have suffered through week long breaks between each episode, and commercials. (Although Jeff is quick to point out that if we would just get DVR we could do away with the latter problem altogether.)
But tomorrow evening it all comes to an end. How? I have not a clue, nor am I one to theorize. I’d rather be surprised anyway. I’ve read a few theories, some of which sounded like great ideas but I’m trying to go into the series finale with an open mind. I’m hoping this way I won’t be disappointed. (I was a little disappointed when the last show I really liked ended. But of course it wasn’t given much of a chance and cancelled after one season. It may have been better if they hadn’t been forced to rush.)
I’m going to be sad that the show has ended, although incredibly glad to have (some) questions answered. I like that the show is character driven and has so many story lines to follow. I don’t think there are many good shows like that.
The only upside I can think of is that my Tuesday nights will now be free. That’s an hour I can use to read, practice German, or go to bed early.
Speaking of going to bed early, that won’t happen tomorrow night since this whole finale extravaganza begins at 7 with a recap of the show, followed by the 2.5 hour series finale. And the cast will be on some late night show, which will also feature a few alternate endings, that I’d really like to see. I don’t know that I’m going to make it through that. I do have to work the next day.
And I’m hoping that the only question left unaswered after tomorrow (although I know that won’t happen!) is which character is my favorite. On that I am definitely still undecided.
